Propagandata

Propagandata is my attempt at mapping the emotional, environmental, and psychological costs of late-stage capitalism through dense lyricism and fragmented drum break landscapes. It represents a deliberately human-centered approach to creation in an age of algorithmic content generation.

Lyrics reference wanderings, people I've met and things I've seen with the intention of trying to untangle my ideas of what it means to be human. As I said on 2024's It Takes A Nation Of Minnows To Hold Us Back:
"acoustic levitation in an anechoic situation cooped up in this 4d cube not of my making."

The production is mostly sample-based, with almost all tracks starting life on my Octatrack. I pull samples from voice memos, old records I love, YouTube clips, news broadcasts, field recordings of protests and gigs, documentaries from the '30s, recordings of book readings, TED talks and more. There is no sacred cultural detritus that can't be chewed up and spat out. Each fragment becomes part of a larger collage intended to represent a sonic archaeology of our current moment.
